Chicago Between the Fairs: Gold Diggers, Gangsters and the Government

The World’s Fairs of 1893 and 1933 are renowned for their building design, grandeur and magic. But what happened in the 40 years in between the fairs was shocking as Chicago grew and matured.
The early twentieth century saw the influx of vice, the rise of flappers, the “Robin Hood” beginnings of the infamous Chicago organized crime bosses, and government corruption so deep it was hard to know the difference between the good guys and the bad guys.
Join local historian Bob Dion on a trip back to Chicago in the early 1900s as we explore the formative years of the city and the people who infamously influenced that time period: Hinky Dink Kenna, The Everleigh Sisters, Big Jim Colosimo, and of course, Al Capone.
