100 years and it’s just the beginning!

This year Smith Vil­lage is excit­ed to cel­e­brate our cen­ten­ni­al anniversary! 

What began as an idea to pro­vide hous­ing for the elder­ly who didn’t have any­one to care for them has blos­somed into the gold stan­dard in senior liv­ing in Chicagoland. To cel­e­brate we’ll be host­ing excit­ing events, infor­ma­tive exhibits, shar­ing video trib­utes and more.

How it all start­ed: The his­to­ry of Smith Village

When the Oakhaven Old People’s Home (Smith Village’s first name) opened in 1924, there were 44 res­i­dents. Now ten decades lat­er, we’re home to almost 300. But that isn’t all that has changed. Take a trip down mem­o­ry lane and dis­cov­er the sto­ried his­to­ry of Smith Village. 

The look and the name of the com­mu­ni­ty may have changed through the years, but one thing remains the same – a com­mit­ment to pro­vid­ing the high­est qual­i­ty care with an excep­tion­al lifestyle. It’s senior liv­ing at its finest!
